Sucralose = Bad
Contemplating a title for this post I decided simple was best. Sucralose seems to to be popping up on more and more ingredient lists lately so this is my plea to you to ALWAYS READ LABELS so you know what you are feeding your body. What could be wrong with a sweetener that is 600 times sweeter than table sugar yet has ZERO calories?? How awesome is that, right? WRONG. Sucralose is BAD boys and girls and here is why.
It’s made from modifying regular sugar by adding chlorine atoms. Yes, chlorine, the stuff you put in your pool.
Side effects that people have experienced are skin rashes/flushing, panic-like agitation, dizziness and numbness, diarrhea, swelling, muscle aches, headaches, intestinal cramping, bladder issues, and stomach pain. Now if that doesn’t sound like a party I don’t know WHAT does???
Despite having no calories sucralose can actually cause you to GAIN weight. Why? The biggest reason is because, since it’s artificially produced, your body does not recognize it as food (nourishment), which ends up increasing your craving for real food making you much more likely to eat more.
Sucralose is in the same family of chemicals as DDT. You know, the INSECTICIDE. Still happy about it being zero calories?
I totally get that many of you crave a sugar fix but are still trying to cut out processed white sugar. That is a GOOD thing but please know there are other options than basically dumping man made poison into your bodies. Honey, pure maple syrup and coconut sugar would all be much better choices and have the distinction of being REAL FOOD. I’m seriously not trying to poop on anyone’s “sugar free” party but please, the next time you reach for that “sugar free”option, honor yourself and your health and read the ingredients. I say it because I care <3
